Problem
GFN and Harvard had a big idea: an online atlas of food donation and food waste laws worldwide. It was a massive project with tons of complex data, but they needed it done fast—like, three months fast. On top of that, they wanted the atlas to blend elements from both of their brands without looking like a mashup. The real challenge? Making all that info easy to navigate and understand so policymakers and researchers could actually use it.
Our Approach
We hit the ground running with a streamlined discovery workshop to get the essentials without the usual lengthy process. Our team sketched out a simple, user-friendly sitemap to help people find the info they need quickly. For the look and feel, we pulled in just the right touches from both brands to make the Atlas feel like a unified project. The star of the show? An interactive map that lets users explore country-specific policies, complete with a sidebar for quick highlights and a list view for more detail. In the end, we built a resource that’s not only informative but easy (and fun) to use.
