Reimagining the Site Architecture
We restructured the site to put additional emphasis on Raising Voices’ audience, rather than focus solely on the organization’s strategic pillars. Raising Voices’ brand promise of “making lasting change” became a driving force of our overall content strategy.
A Fresh New Look
In redesigning the site, we sought to create a look and feel that was both empowering and culturally relevant. We implemented a rich illustrative style and introduced captivating colors in the form of traditional Ugandan textile patterns. These engaging elements appear throughout the user interface, creating a consistent visual style inline with Raising Voices’ overall brand identity.
As a primary goal, the user interface needed to feel culturally authentic. We accomplished this by incorporating various patterns and elements from traditional Ugandan textiles.
Raising Voices needed to better communicate their core services and programs. We incorporated audience-centric language throughout the site and modified the content architecture, thereby simplifying the user experience.
We updated the new site with softer, more organic illustrations for an approachable and celebratory experience. The imagery showcases and celebrates the many women and children Raising Voices strives to support.
A Robust Resource Library
We introduced and optimized a new resource library to ensure users could locate vital information, including those without high-speed internet access.
The SASA! Approach
Raising Voices has developed the SASA! approach to violence prevention, which relies on community mobilization and language centered around empowerment. The new site supports this important initiative by ensuring the SASA! content is thorough, yet also easy to locate and understand.
Demonstrating Impact
The previous Raising Voices website documented the organization’s approach, but it didn’t showcase their impact. In creating the new site, we deployed statistics, testimonials, and even short-form case studies to bring real-world results to life online.
